Ovacik
The more rustic resort town of Ovacik, is located in the southern part of Turkey, high up in the hills and mountains of the Fethiye area.
As the town nestles below the Baba dag Mountain, it is no surprise that the area takes its name, Ovacik, from the Turkish words that mean little plain.
Surrounded by both sweet-smelling pine and almond forests, the town of Ovacik is surrounded with the most stunning mountain views in the land that greet the weary traveler wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life.
With its slightly more rural setting, the town enjoys a wonderful breeze from the mountains that travels its city streets despite the warm Turkish sun shining brightly overhead. As such, guests will realize that the air here is usually cooler and fresher than in the sea port areas below closer to the beaches.
Though located close to the other hilltop resort village of Hisanoru, Ovacik is the more rural and calming of the two neighboring towns. It has less of the high-energy activities that can be found in the main town area of Hisanoru but is a near 15 minute walk away and 5 minute drive away for easy travel to and from these two centers.
It is no wonder to owing to such a flexibly located sleepy laid back village, more and more Ovacik is popular for self-catered villas for visitors to experience Turkish nature closer at hand, with having the treasures of the sea and the culture in nearby locales just a few minutes away.
The charming bars and restaurants of Ovacik make it a wonderful opportunity to sit with friendly locals over a meal and see the sun as its sets over the mountains.
