Kemer
The unique seaside resort town of Kemer located on the Antalya Gulf with the Taurus mountains to the west has transformed itself from a gentle rural district to an important holiday destination today.
Formerly known in the ancient period as the Lycian town of Idryos, the town was rebuilt in the early 20th century to have stone walls that would channel and redirect the freshwater flowing from the mountains that had continued to flood the town since time immemorial. Today, he name of the town, Kemer, refers to those stone walls.
The major attraction of the resort town of Kemer is its natural beauty, wherein the combination of the sea waters, mountains and pine forests create a stunning visual scene that will be etched in the memory of its visitors.
The nearby popular coastal villages in Kemer include Beldibi, Kiriş, Çayova, Aslanbucak, Kuzdere, Beycik, Çamyuva, Göynük, and Çıralı.
The exquisite stretch of beach range from the shores at Beldibi to Tekirova. There is the particularly beautiful Adrasan Bay with over a kilometer of sandy beach.The coasts is peaceful with a range of accomodations and entertainment activities to suit every preference and traveller with its value-for-money options. There are a range of clubs and bars, restaurants and cafes that dot the marina where visitors from over 300 yachts can dock and enjoy the day in town.
More adventurous guests can go to the Üç Adalar (Three Islands) a popular diving spot. The canyon of Göynük and the twin rocks of İkiz Kayalar, the mountain springs of Ulupinar village and the caves at Beldibi, and the Molla hole in the east face of Tahtalı mountain all wait to be explored by the curious nature lover.
Every year, guests can be treated to events in the area such as the art exhibitions in Phaselis, the sporting activities such as boat races and rally driving, and then there is the fun of the Kemer Carnival. Music lovers can also sample Turkish pop music when famous national performers take to the coasts and give summer performances of their latest songs here.
